Arsenal keeper confident of title but full focused on Hull focused on Hull

Arsenal keeper confident of title but full focused on Hull focused on Hull

I am sure that Arsene Wenger does not want his Arsenal players to start thinking about winning the Premier League title in May. He will want them all to keep their eye on the prize, yes, in order to spur them on, but they cannot start looking any further than the next game.
So it is great to hear the Arsenal keeper Wojciech Szczesny feeling confident about the team’s ability to win the title, in a Mirror report, while dismissing talks about it in preference for concentrating on the game against Hull City at the Emirates on Wednesday.
Szczesny said, “You talk about the title challenge, but I don’t want to talk about it. I want to talk about Hull. If we get the three points then we’ll be in a very good position for you guys to talk about the title challenge. We just want to focus on the next game.”
Szczesny is one of many Gunners to have upped their performance levels significantly this season, with Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud the two most notable of the others. But it seems almost as if every single player is doing better, so the keeper’s confidence in Arsenal’s chances of winning that coveted trophy are totally understandable.
He said, “If we carry on like we are now, I’m certain we’ll be top in May. But we have a lot of work to do, a lot of tough games to win. There’s no point in putting pressure on ourselves. We just want to enjoy every single game, that’s bringing the best out of us and I don’t think that will change.”
The fact that Arsenal have got to the top of the table and stayed there with a long injury list and no luck whatsoever makes me think that they will do it. But I would feel a lot more confident, a la Szczesny, if we had someone other that Nicklas Bendtner as a back-up for Olivier Giroud, and hopefully come January we will have. Do Arsenal need a big signing or two to make sure that the Premier League title is coming to the Emirates?
