Arsene Wenger hits back at Match of the Day pundit doubts over Arsenal

Arsene Wenger has dismissed suggestion from Match of the Day pundits that Arsenal are merely pretenders for the Premier League title.
The Gunners go into tonight’s clash with Hull four points clear of nearest rivals Chelsea, yet Alan Hansen, Danny Mills and Alan Shearer have cast doubt over the north Londoner’s ability to remain at the summit.
But Wenger was quick to brush off their so-called expert analysis, saying: ‘Sometimes I watch them. Sometimes it’s just someone saying their opinion without an argument.
‘If it’s something based on hate or love or just gut feeling then I just say, “OK, it’s an opinion — he might be right, he might be wrong”.

‘If you just say, “Arsenal won’t win the championship because they haven’t won it for eight years”, then it’s just an opinion.
‘When I arrived here people explained I couldn’t win the title as I am foreign. Everybody has their own logic. I just think you win the title through your quality.
‘If we didn’t win for eight years it is because we weren’t good enough. We have a good opportunity to show we are good enough, so let’s take it.’
